Cookie Policy

The pages of the Nexus Standards sites store one appearance preference in the browser when the reader chooses it, and keep research-hub results for the length of a visit. The publishing platform and the hosting provider may set cookies needed for security and for editors' sign-in. There are no analytics, advertising or social-media cookies.

02Section 1

Scope

  • 1.1 This Policy explains how nexustandards.com and the programme sites published at addresses beginning with nexustandards.com/, such as nexustandards.com/climate/ (together, the Sites) use cookies and similar browser storage. It forms part of the Privacy Policy.
  • 1.2 Cookies are small files that a website asks the browser to keep and send back with later requests. Similar technologies include the browser's local storage, which persists until it is cleared, and session storage, which is cleared when the browser tab is closed.
03Section 2

What the pages store

Every item is strictly necessary for the Sites or for a feature the reader requests.

04Section 3

What the pages do not use

  • 3.1 The Sites use no analytics cookies, no advertising or retargeting cookies, no social-media cookies and no cross-site tracking. They contain no embedded video or social-media plug-ins that would set such cookies.
  • 3.2 Because only strictly necessary storage is used, the Sites do not ask for consent to cookies. Before any cookie or storage that is not strictly necessary is introduced, this Policy will be updated and consent will be requested where the law requires it.
05Section 4

Requests to third-party providers

  • 4.1 Some figures load code libraries, map imagery or bibliographic records from third-party providers, listed in the Privacy Policy. These requests send the reader's IP address and browser details to the provider. Library and map-imagery requests are made without cookies, and map-imagery requests also omit the address of the referring page.
06Section 5

Choices and controls

  • 5.1 Readers can view and delete cookies and site storage at any time in their browser settings, and can set the browser to refuse cookies. Refusing or deleting the items in Section 2 does not prevent any page from being read: the appearance returns to the automatic setting and a search is repeated when needed.
  • 5.2 As the Sites do not track readers, browser signals such as Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track require no further action; the Sites behave the same way whether or not they are sent.
07Section 6

Changes and contact

  • 6.1 This Policy is updated whenever the storage used by the Sites changes; the updated Policy is published on this page with a new effective date. Questions may be sent to the Privacy Officer at contact@therisk.global.
08Questions

Questions and answers.

Does refusing cookies affect the pages?
No page needs a cookie to be read. Without browser storage, the appearance follows the device setting and the research hub repeats a search when it is needed.

Questions about storage on the Sites

Questions about cookies and browser storage may be sent to the Privacy Officer of GCRI Canada at contact@therisk.global.

Status and use. The Nexus Standards are proposed standards developed through an open process under NS-13 and published for voluntary use; they do not constitute certification, accreditation or regulatory approval, and adoption remains a decision of the Global Standards Council and, in each country, of its National Standards Council. A UNI (Unique Nexus Identifier) identifies an artifact; it does not certify it. Names of standards bodies and their standards belong to their stewards and are used only to identify the documents; no text of an external standard is reproduced here. Nexus Standards is not affiliated with, endorsed by or certified by any standards body named here.

Licences: CC BY 4.0 for standards text, registries, schemas and data; Apache-2.0 for reference code. External standards are cited by name, number and link under their own licences. Third-party data, libraries and fonts keep their own licences: see Third-party notices.
