New Urban Agenda alignment

Maps Nexus urban risk, settlement and infrastructure records to the New Urban Agenda (A/RES/71/256) and its follow-up, SDG 11 indicators and the UN-Habitat urban monitoring work, with the Degree of Urbanisation as the harmonised definition of cities, towns and rural areas, so city records carry the commitments and indicators they inform. A section of the Cities and the built environment subsite. Every artifact of the area carries a UNI (Unique Nexus Identifier), which identifies and never certifies.

01Scope

New Urban Agenda alignment: what the area covers, and what it leaves to others.

The frameworks and mandates alignment section of Cities and the Built Environment. Scope as the area context entry states it (PROPOSED).

In scope 4

  • Crosswalk to New Urban Agenda commitments and SDG 11 indicators
  • Degree of Urbanisation classification for city records
  • Local risk reduction strategy records and voluntary local review references
  • Informal settlement and housing exposure records with privacy safeguards

Out of scope 3

  • City rankings or composite liveability indices
  • Planning approvals or zoning decisions
  • Reproducing the New Urban Agenda text

Jurisdictions No jurisdiction note is recorded for this area yet; jurisdiction narrows what applies and never implies that a Nexus profile satisfies a law.

03Open standards

4 open standards, each with its relation.

Relations are register entries (NS-14), never conformance or equivalence statements; hover or focus a relation for its meaning. Names of standards bodies and their standards belong to their stewards and are used only to identify the documents; no text of an external standard is reproduced here.

04Systemic couplings

4 couplings to other areas and subsites.

Each coupling names the mechanism that links this area to another; select a card on the canvas to trace it. Mechanisms are stated in the context bank (PROPOSED).

Canvas · the area and its couplingsDesign, not a record
New Urban Agenda alignment: systemic couplingsThe couplings the area context bank records for New Urban Agenda alignment: 2 areas in Cities and the Built Environment, 2 areas in other subsites and 2 subsites reached. Each coupling carries a mechanism stated in the context bank (PROPOSED); a reading aid, not a dependency proof.

Fig.RUNNING marks the area you are reading; DONE an area in the same subsite, QUEUED an area elsewhere and GATE a subsite reached. Tags give reading order only, never a status. Design, not a record.

  1. UN-Habitat and urban areasCities and the Built EnvironmentUN-Habitat is custodian of most SDG 11 indicators and the New Urban Agenda follow-up; that section describes its programmes and data, this one the commitment crosswalk.
  2. Cities and urban systems risk standardsCities and the Built EnvironmentUrban hazard, exposure and infrastructure records profiled there are the evidence for SDG 11.5 and 11.b reporting mapped here.
  3. Sendai Framework alignmentHazards and Disaster Risk ReductionLocal disaster risk reduction strategies (Sendai E-2 and SDG 11.b.2) are recorded once and tagged to both frameworks.
  4. Paris Agreement and NDC alignmentClimate and Earth SystemsUrban adaptation and mitigation actions in NDCs and local climate plans share city records with this crosswalk.

06Data and feeds

3 sources, with provider, licence and delivery path.

Sources the area reads or proposes. Delivery follows GRIx first; a source is shown live only after an owner decision admits it for public pages.

Every feed · pending admission

No legal register row admits any of these sources for live display on public pages yet, so nothing is read from them here. A register row that exists records the source for the governed GRIx path; admission for public pages is a separate owner decision.

07Readiness

What each pathway can read from this area.

GCRI Canada evidence pathway

GCRI Canada

GCRI Canada decides under its own evidence rules whether urban records tagged here are usable; tagging is not acceptance.

Open the GCRI Canada evidence pathway

Recognition pathway

The Global Risks Forum (GRF)

The Global Risks Forum (GRF) decides under its own rules whether urban resilience work features in its programmes; alignment implies no recognition.

Open the Recognition pathway

Capital pathway

The Global Risks Alliance (GRA)

The Global Risks Alliance (GRA) decides capital readiness under its own criteria; urban tags only show reviewers which city outcomes a project cites.

Open the Capital pathway

Each institution decides under its own rules what it reads as evidence; no pathway is an approval, a readiness statement or investment advice.

09Restricted compatibility profiles

No closed standard is named for this area.

Closed or paywalled standards appear by name and link only; any compatibility profile of one is built on simulated data and kept on protected pages until an institutional arrangement with the issuing body is recorded. Nexus Standards is not affiliated with, endorsed by or certified by any standards body named here.

The working group may name closed standards later; they would be listed here by name and link only.

10Working group

The working-group charter, proposed.

Scope

Maintain the New Urban Agenda and SDG 11 crosswalk and the city record profile.

No working group is chartered yet; a community may charter this one under NS-13 through a docket.
