Financial and economic risk standards

Financial systems both absorb and amplify shocks: losses from hazards, pandemics or repricing propagate through credit, liquidity and fire-sale channels, and sovereign and banking stress reinforce each other. This section of the Finance, insurance and the economy subsite sets records for exposures, stress scenarios, contagion networks and sovereign indicators, crosswalked to prudential and disclosure frameworks, so that analysts and supervisors build capital-readiness evidence on traceable data. Every artifact of the area carries a UNI (Unique Nexus Identifier), which identifies and never certifies.

01Scope

Financial and economic risk standards: what the area covers, and what it leaves to others.

The hazard and threat families section of Finance, Insurance and the Economy. Scope as the area context entry states it (PROPOSED).

In scope 5

  • Exposure and loss records for credit, market and insurance portfolios
  • Stress-test scenario records with variables and horizons
  • Interbank and cross-holding network records for contagion analysis
  • Sovereign debt and macro-financial indicator records
  • Disclosure crosswalks

Out of scope 3

  • Investment advice or security recommendations
  • Credit ratings
  • Accounting standard setting

Jurisdictions No jurisdiction note is recorded for this area yet; jurisdiction narrows what applies and never implies that a Nexus profile satisfies a law.

03Data and feeds

4 sources, with provider, licence and delivery path.

Sources the area reads or proposes. Delivery follows GRIx first; a source is shown live only after an owner decision admits it for public pages.

Every feed · pending admission

No legal register row admits any of these sources for live display on public pages yet, so nothing is read from them here. A register row that exists records the source for the governed GRIx path; admission for public pages is a separate owner decision.

04Systemic couplings

4 couplings to other areas and subsites.

Each coupling names the mechanism that links this area to another; select a card on the canvas to trace it. Mechanisms are stated in the context bank (PROPOSED).

07Restricted compatibility profiles

1 closed standard, named only.

Closed or paywalled standards appear by name and link only; any compatibility profile of one is built on simulated data and kept on protected pages until an institutional arrangement with the issuing body is recorded. Nexus Standards is not affiliated with, endorsed by or certified by any standards body named here.

10Readiness

What each pathway can read from this area.

11Working group

The working-group charter, proposed.

Scope

Exposure, scenario and contagion records aligned to risk-data aggregation principles and SDMX.

No working group is chartered yet; a community may charter this one under NS-13 through a docket.

12Open problems

3 open problems an expert would start with.

  1. Granular exposure data are confidential; open analysis relies on aggregates that hide concentration.
  2. Data vintages and revisions are rarely preserved in public feeds, undermining reproducibility of past assessments.
  3. Translating physical hazard losses into credit risk lacks agreed methods.
13Audiences

Who works with this area: 4 audiences.

  1. Financial stability analysts

  3. Sovereign debt analysts
  4. Development finance institutions
