Principles.
- 1.1 Errors are corrected openly and the record of the correction is kept. Material is never changed silently in a way that alters its meaning.
How to request a correction.
- 2.1 Write to the contact form with the address of the page or the identifier of the edition, finding, dataset or record, what is wrong, and the evidence or source that shows it.
- 2.2 The request is acknowledged with a reference and assessed against the evidence. The person who made it is told the decision and its reasons.
Kinds of change.
- 3.1 A clarification makes the meaning clearer without changing a finding. A correction fixes an error of fact, number, citation or attribution. An update adds new evidence that has become available. A retraction or withdrawal removes a finding or a document that cannot stand.
- 3.2 Every correction, update and retraction of a finding, an edition or a dataset is stated in a notice on the material, with the date and what changed. A new version receives a new version number and, where the material has a DOI, a new version of the deposit; earlier versions stay available, marked as superseded or retracted.
- 3.3 Typographical and formatting fixes that change no meaning are made without a notice.
Errors in third-party data.
- 4.1 An error that comes from a data provider is reported to that provider. The material is corrected at the next update of the provider’s data, or annotated until then.
Right of reply.
- 5.1 A person, an organisation or a public authority that is named or directly concerned by a finding may submit a reply. A reply that is relevant and within the limits of the Code of Conduct is published with the material, or linked from it, and the finding is reviewed in the light of any new evidence it contains.
Other routes.
- 6.1 Complaints that are not requests for correction follow the Complaints and integrity reporting procedure. Questions about personal information follow the privacy documents.

Status and use. The Nexus Standards are proposed standards developed through an open process under NS-13 and published for voluntary use; they do not constitute certification, accreditation or regulatory approval, and adoption remains a decision of the Global Standards Council and, in each country, of its National Standards Council. A UNI (Unique Nexus Identifier) identifies an artefact; it does not certify it. Names of standards bodies and their standards belong to their stewards and are used only to identify the documents; no text of an external standard is reproduced here. Nexus Standards is not affiliated with, endorsed by or certified by any standards body named here.
